I finally got the chance to work with Jennifer AKA Ryonen and I’m absolutely delighted to share the results.

These images were achieved with a glass pane in front of the lens and lit entirely with available light. The ghost image is an optical artifact and not a digital overlay.

This is the first time I’ve experimented with digital extras in my photographs.
I think the effect worked nicely.

The blue hue in other images was achieved by shooting through a scarf.

I have just finished sorting approximately 5500 images from Peru.
The majority of images are medical photos that will be used as reference material – the hope is that these images will be published in medical journals for future use.

Throughout the trip I made an effort to document my surroundings as well.
Now, after some two days of editing and categorizing, I present the first of many posts from Peru.

I leave tomorrow for Huancavelica, Peru for a medical documentary mission.
Population: ~40,000 people
Elevation: ~13,000 feet

We’ll be working in the city hospital for the majority of the trip.
The medical teams will provide care to the citizens of the city and I will be documenting their mission. I hope I’ll have some freedom to explore the town after the work is done.

Packing for this trip has been especially tricky because Peru is in the opposite hemisphere – while we’re enjoying a fabulous summer here in Portland, it’s the middle of winter in Peru.

Stay tuned for travel photos while abroad and then finished galleries when I return stateside!

I was asked to shoot some product and commercial images for a new bicycle product, the Back-Up Barz. We had perfect weather but shifting sunlight through trees was a constant hassle.

These were shot using a single large octobox, some natural light reflection, and a scrim to knock back natural light hot-spots.
